On 20th April, Global Utmaning @GlobalUt conducted a chat on the Urban Girls Movement.
#UrbanGirlsMovement tests the hypothesis “Plan a city for girls, and it will work for everyone” The chat began by asking the audience their thoughts on it. The question then went on to feminist urban planning and how the physical space impacts women’s empowerment and change in behaviour. The next question was whether and how we can use urban design and public space planning to improve living conditions and challenge the societal norms and values that make women socially vulnerable. The chat ended by questioning whether we should plan for public spaces for women only in order to create inclusive cities?
