Clay- Ritu Verma
Ritu Verma is a trained counsellor, mentor, behavioural specialist, motivator, sex educationalist and child abuse consultant. She has completed her B Com from Mumbai University and accomplished her MBA with a specialization in Marketing from SIES College of Management Studies, Navi Mumbai. She also has to her credit various certifications in hospitality management. As a management professional with almost a decade long experience, Ritu has worked with some of the most elite organizations in the travel and hospitality industry. She is the Co – Founder and Director of Clay Foundation having centres across Navi Mumbai. She has been instrumental in conducting training programs for kids in the areas of personality development, grooming, life skills, sex education and prevention of child abuse. These stimulating and enriching courses are designed in a carefully structured format for easy understanding of kids.
Clay Foundation and Safecity have partnered on developing the curricula.
SSH and Safecity agree that because street harassment is often an invisible problem (especially to people in power) and it is dismissed as being a “minor annoyance,” a “joke,” or the fault of the harassed person, our primarily focus right now is simply to document the problem and demonstrate why it’s a human rights violation that must be addressed.
The two organisations were working together during the Anti Street Harassment week 2014. The events, reports, videos, pictures collected during this harassment week- 30 March to 5 April were compiled in a global report that you can read here.
DNA is a mainstream newspaper and part of the ZEE news group. We did a joint campaign with them in January 2014 titled How Safe is your city? Safecity has featured on DNA on several occasions highlighting the urgency on the issue of harassment and abuse in public spaces. Safecity has also featured in this domain with intriguing articles to create dialog and expand the coverage of the issue.
Rozy Roti Films is a film production company that does commercial and social themed films. Safecity I (http://youtu.be/edyUTg4e4-w) is their first social themed film.
PVR Nest is the corporate social responsibility arm of PVR Cinema and they featured Safecity’s advertisement for a fortnight at their cinemas in 17 cities all over India in honour of Women’s Day March 2013.
We have conducted workshops on sexual harassment at workplace for PVR Cinemas and will be continuing to explore gender at work.
The idea of Safecity came about during the Swedish Institute Management Program organised by the Swedish Institute. The program focusses on CSR and Sustainability in large corporates.
