First Safecity Workshop in Goa

In August 2015, Safecity conducted its first ever workshop in Goa.

A workshop on “Gender Sensitivity and Sexual Harassment” was conducted with the students of Don Bosco College, Panjim on 13th August, 2015. The workshop was attended by 31 participants comprising 16 girls and 15 boys from the Masters in Social Work Department, Bachelors in Business Administration Department (Travel and Tourism) and a few faculty members.

The workshop included a discussion on gender and gender roles, the concept of consent, rape culture and victim blaming, as well as an introduction to the laws protecting women against sexual violence. Through this workshop, we also aimed to introduce Safecity’s work to the students.

During the interactive session, students spoke about feeling unsafe in many public spaces, especially when using public transport. They also spoke about the need to sensitize our law enforcement agencies towards gender issues and how to deal with sensitive cases of sexual violence.
