Safecity Emerging Leader: Aarushee

Safecity is celebrating the journey of people who have emerged as leaders as our campaigns progressed in their communities through our blog series “Safecity Emerging Leaders“. Read the inspiring stories of these individuals who are passionate about making their neighbourhoods safer with Safecity and have taken action in their own special ways.

Safecity Emerging Leader: Aarushee

It is very rare that we find people with the same passion and emotion for our cause like we do, but fortunately, our youngest Campus Ambassador in the Delhi team is wonderful and really inspiring!

Since the advent of the Campus Ambassador Program, Aarushee has been constantly brainstorming on the different activities that can be conducted with the different formal and informal structures within her college. She has a wonderful team working with her, as inspiring as she is, which helps us in spreading the word and make people talk about the much-silenced issue of harassment in our day-to-day lives and spaces.

Always having different ideas flowing in, she is open to grabbing the existing opportunities and creating new ones. She is a gem of a person who at first comes across an introvert and a very private person but her involvement, dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to her work can transform her personality and completely take you by surprise.

On completing a month as one of Safecity’s Campus Ambassadors, Aarushee Shukla spoke about her experience,

“My first month of working as a Campus Ambassador for Safecity has been full of excitement and thrill! This opportunity immensely helped me in untwining my deepest windings. In the span of these thirty days, I have seen myself evolving into a more organised, disciplined multi-tasker. In addition to this, I have developed logical and creative ways of designing the plans for different campaigns and activities. One of the perks of being a Campus Ambassador is that you get to interact with the Presidents of different societies, professors of different departments and the principal of the college directly and that goes on boosting our confidence level and honing our communication skills.

Working for a cause which is so close to my heart is the best part. Through this programme, I wish to raise maximum awareness about sexual harassment and break the silence that surrounds it. With my amazing team of seven hardworking students, we have successfully completed one month of this interesting programme and are looking forward to the coming month!”

We are glad and grateful to have Aarushee in our team, igniting that inspiration not just within her team but also within us. After all, it’s all about solidarity, right?
