Safecity has worked since its inception in metropolitans, with renowned organisations and institutions. We have focused on college students of these aforementioned zones and carried on with our agenda of prevention of sexual violence.
Now in the last leg of 2019, we conceived something new. We launched Balsuraksha Project or Rise Up based in the small town of Satara, Maharashtra and this time our stakeholders are the youngest of minds. Our Youth and Outreach Officer in the region, Sayali Khatavkar, is also working endlessly to gain the confidence of the Asha worker, Anganwadi presidents, the local block officer as well as the Zilla Parishad. It’s a deliberation to reach as many rungs of the ladder as possible.
Every other day, Sayali will go to the primary and secondary schools of the region and take sessions on gender sensitisation, sexual violence prevention, legal tools readily available to the students and take down the feedback from them. We are also getting the faculties of these schools as your participants too, where they are to be ‘Know Your Right Educators’ who will take our campaign further and utilise their deep roots in the communities to spread the word.
It may seem like a never-ending journey, but we only hope for the best.
